Title:
Welding Hazards: Recognition, Evaluation and Control
Presenter: Ron B. Read – President, Read Consulting Company
Welding is an integral part of most any
industry. Many facilities weld intermittently while other industries conduct
production welding; meaning it is a part of making their product. This
discussion is intended for those attendees with limited experience in the
welding process and its evaluation. We will discuss a few different types
of arc welding processes, i.e., MIG. TIG, Stick, SAW, PAW and OxyGas
welding. In addition we will discuss the general physical and chemical
hazards associated with welding and how to evaluate each. Cadmium, Zinc,
Manganese, Nickel and Lead will be discussed briefly. Hexavalent Chromium
and its relationship with welding will be discussed more at length. We
will also discuss appropriate PPE and other control measures.
